Post Thanksgiving and Hook'em

Happy Thanksgiving. MAJ Tim McGowan, another member of my team, and I went to a Thanksgiving service lead by the Army’s chief of chaplains. After church it was on to the food. The line at the Sports Oasis DFAC was the longest I’ve ever seen it, though it moved pretty fast. There were lots of decorations, made mostly of Styrofoam or dough. While pretty, some of them didn’t make sense. Outside was an island scene with a waterfall and coconut trees. Inside were a couple of turkeys, a blue dragon (18th Airborne Corp) and a ship. Hmmmmm. Rather than the usual DFAC servers, food was served by our leaders, e.g., generals, colonels and sergeants major. It was a nice touch. Lots of the usual: ham, turkey, dressing, yams, veggies, crab legs, steak, potatoes, pumpkin pie, etc. While not like home, it was good.

I woke up at 4:00 this morning to watch the Texas game. The Longhorns are looking good. I hope it is enough to convince the polls that Texas should stay ahead of ou and that McCoy should win the Heisman. Hook’em.

Hello Christian and family. Thank You for serving our country, and thank you to everyone who supports Sharon so that Christian does not have to worry about his family. My son was in the army and stationed in Bosnia, not a war zone but spooky for me nonetheless. I really appreciate all who protect us.
